Course Characterization

Nowadays, energy and it’s rational use achieved a capital importance. Renewable Energies have been consolidating its dominance in the energy sector in Portugal and in the world, representing one of the sectors with greater growth opportunities. Thus the energy sector faces challenges and lacks trained professionals. Graduates in Renewable Energies Engineering, by means of their general training, can perform a professional activity in industry, in services, public administration, teaching, training, research and development. In their areas of activity they may be involved in: production of equipment for renewable energy (e.g. solar thermal collectors, photovoltaic modules, systems, burning of forest biomass systems, micro-turbines); sales, installation, maintenance, technical assistance and certification systems for use of renewable energy; consulting in the field of renewable energy (e.g. design, analysis of technical and economical feasibility of projects, energy management, energy audits, environmental impact studies).
